Plan, Section, Elevation and Perspective are the fundamental ways of drawing a spatial design
Plan
- Top down view looking inside the design
- Uses simplified/abstract shapes to represent the subject in simplest form
- Dark and light line quality represents permanent/in-permanent structures
- Darker lines for things closer to viewing plane
- Contour lines tell us how steep things are eg. hill, stairs
Section
- Side view
- Darker lines for things closer to viewing plane
- A 'section perspective' combines both to show depth, layers, atmosphere, context
Elevation
